In the early 1800s, floating coffins left the shelter of British shores to sail the six month treacherous journey, risking storm and shipwreck to New South Wales. In hope of riding Britain of evil, chained prisoners were sentenced to prosper or perish for seven years of hard labour.
Once at the far continent, Governors strove to deter and reform the population with strict discipline and harsh punishments.
